If I ravished your mind

Today Amanda blogged about singing whilst driving, and how it can lead to a momentary bond with a stranger. Not ten minutes before reading her blog entry, did I have the exact same experience of my own.

Unlike Amanda, I wasn’t listening to Justin Timberlake / Madonna. I was listening to Avenged Sevenfold. I wasn’t listening to Beast and the Harlot this time (for once!) I was listening to “Scream”. This is a rather loud, stomping song (hence why I love it) with heavy connotations in the lyrics.

I was driving through my high street with my music thumping in my car (and yes, I did feel like a chav) and it was hot so I had the windows open slightly. I pulled up at some traffic lights as a group of school children crossed. I was completely lost in the music and didn’t realise that they could hear me.

When I noticed that the group of teenagers were looking at me and smiling, I realised that they could in fact hear the song that I was listening to. I smiled back and for the few seconds it took for them to cross the road (and for Avenged Sevenfold to belt out “Scream, scream, scream, like you would if I ravished your body. Scream, scream, scream, like you would if I ravished your mind.”) we were friends.

Oh how I love my town sometimes.
