I hate social networks!

I have a myspace account. I’ve had one for just under a year, and I hate it. I log in and am bombarded with people’s bulletins telling me that they’re watching DVD’s and are just about to go to bed. Do I care? No! If I cared what you were up to, I’d ask you.
I hate myspace so much because of the bastardised CSS and HTML. People should not be allowed to customise their own layouts. It makes me uncomfortable when I see CSS in the body section of a webpage. It doesn’t belong there, and it’s only a fluke that it works.
Myspace, to me, has always been a waste of bandwidth. It’s full of emo teenagers and crappy bands judging their popularity by the number of friends they have, and using profile comments an bulletins as a way of keeping in touch. It’s pathetic.
I joined facebook last summer, because I wanted to try out a social networking site that wasn’t rubbish. It started off great. Everyone used their real names, and no one could customise the appearance of their profile with CSS. That hasn’t changed, and I still love facebook for that reason.
What I’m starting to hate about facebook now though, are all the third-party applications you can add to your profile. Some of these force you to invite 10+ to add the app as well before you can successfully add it. Now when I log into facebook, I’m presented with a list of 30 invitiations to tell me to add applications such as the “friends for sale” app and the “hot potato” app. It’s ridiculous.
In many ways, social networking is a brilliant idea, but in my ways it is ridiculous. With ning, you can make your own social networking site. I’m thinking of making one for anti-social unfriendly people. Who wants to sign up?
