The downside of living inland

I know lots of people are afraid of large bodies of water, and I never understand why that is. The worst that can happen is you get into trouble and drown. If you’re afraid of even looking at pictures of large bodies of water, you might want to click away now.

That’s the lake in my town, taken last summer. Isn’t it gorgeous? There’s so much wildlife there. There’s ducks, and geese, and a couple of llamas, and people walking their dogs. It’s a very nice environment to be in. When the weather nicens up, I think I’ll start walking round the lake more often. It’ll be good exercise during my lunch break.

That’s a photo I took in Portsmouth (south coast) last November. The land on the right is a place called “Gosport” and in the distance you can see the Isle of White. Isn’t that sea just gorgeous? I’m very jealous of people who live near the sea. It’s so relaxing and it has such a calming influence on me. I could just stand and stare at the sea for hours. It fascinates me.

If I could live anywhere, it would be near the coast. Right now I live slap bang in the middle of the country, which is not a lie if you look at this map. I can go in any direction at all and it’ll take about three hours to get to the nearest coastline. It’s ridiculous. I couldn’t be any further inland if I tried.
