And the winner is…

I really didn’t plan on dedicating three entire entries to my favicon, but I received a lot more feedback than I was expecting, and I just want to thank everyone for that.

And so, let’s get onto the results.

In fourth place is favicon #3, with one vote (MC).

Third place goes to #4, with two votes (Mike and Tracy).

Second place goes to #1, with three votes (Bobbi-lee, Robmarie, and… me).

And in first place is favicon #2, with a total of 27 votes (Hanna, Louise, Amanda, Jem, Vera, Julie, Aisling, Rob, Hannah, Kip, Thomas, Melissa, CPS, Annie, Emsz, Regine, Kristina, Clem, Chantelle, Tiffany, Louise, Kaylee, Lene, Renee, Kaisa, Christine, and Chien Yee)!

There were of course several undecided / vague responses, and I haven’t counted these. However, they wouldn’t affect the final result anyway, since #2 had such an overwhelming majority of the votes.

Jo - “I like #3 but I think #2 is going to win.”
Amber - “#4 is my favourite but #2 is more appropriate for you.”
Kim - “#2 or #4, but probably #2″
Holly - “Definitely #2 or #4″
Miki - “#2 or #4, definitely.”
Abby - “I like #3 and #4″

Thank you to everyone who voted, and a special thank you to the three runners up: Tiffany, Annie, and Christine.

And of course, thank you to Lilil. May your ego continue to inflate, and may you enjoy seeing your favicon all over the place.

(The favicon is showing up for everyone now, right?)

Voting time!

After having received more help than expected with the favicon I need, there are now choices. Choices! Let’s do this diplomatically and have a vote. Please comment below with the number of the favicon you’d like to see for Calm Banana.

entry #1 - entry #1

entry #2 - entry #2

entry #3 - entry #3

entry #4 - entry #4

Voting will stay open until the next time I blog.

Help me out!

If you’ve been a follower of this site for more than a few weeks, you’ll have noticed several design changes. You’ll have noticed that graphic design is not my strong point. I’m not the best in the world with Photoshop, and I’m not a CSS god like Lil or Bubs. I like clean, minimalistic designs, and I like large blocks of colour. I’m not so good with tiny little details, which is why I always feel a little bit inadequate among the many talented pixel artists in the q*bee.

However, enthusiasm does help a lot, and I have stacks of that. What I have enthusiasm for right now is a favicon. It’s something I’ve been meaning to do for a while, and in my recent bout of inspiration I thought I would finally sort out this problem.

That’s where the problem lies though. I suck at making favicons. But, I know that some of you lovely visitors are good at things like that, and I’m hoping if I suck up to you enough, you’ll help me out.

We can turn it into a little contest if you’d like. Make me a favicon (I’ll accept any format - I can convert them) and if I use it on my site, you can have link love forever. If I get enough submissions, I might make a poll and let you guys (and girls!) vote on your favourite.

So what does a Calm Banana favicon need to look like? Well, it needs to be sixteen pixels high and sixteen pixels wide, and it needs to be instantly recognisable as belonging to this site. No restrictions will be placed on colour or content - I’ll leave that entirely up to your discretion. A banana would be awesome, and it doesn’t need to match the current layout.

If you’d like to either post your submissions here, or email them to me (rachael at calmbanana.co.uk) it would be much appreciated. Think of the power you have! You have the power to bring Calm Banana to the toolbars of several hundred people. I think this is a pretty awesome opportunity, and yes this is me trying my best to suck up.
