If you’ve been a follower of this site for more than a few weeks, you’ll have noticed several design changes. You’ll have noticed that graphic design is not my strong point. I’m not the best in the world with Photoshop, and I’m not a CSS god like Lil or Bubs. I like clean, minimalistic designs, and I like large blocks of colour. I’m not so good with tiny little details, which is why I always feel a little bit inadequate among the many talented pixel artists in the q*bee.
However, enthusiasm does help a lot, and I have stacks of that. What I have enthusiasm for right now is a favicon. It’s something I’ve been meaning to do for a while, and in my recent bout of inspiration I thought I would finally sort out this problem.
That’s where the problem lies though. I suck at making favicons. But, I know that some of you lovely visitors are good at things like that, and I’m hoping if I suck up to you enough, you’ll help me out.
We can turn it into a little contest if you’d like. Make me a favicon (I’ll accept any format – I can convert them) and if I use it on my site, you can have link love forever. If I get enough submissions, I might make a poll and let you guys (and girls!) vote on your favourite.
So what does a Calm Banana favicon need to look like? Well, it needs to be sixteen pixels high and sixteen pixels wide, and it needs to be instantly recognisable as belonging to this site. No restrictions will be placed on colour or content – I’ll leave that entirely up to your discretion. A banana would be awesome, and it doesn’t need to match the current layout.

You have the power to bring Calm Banana to the toolbars of several hundred people. I think this is a pretty awesome opportunity, and yes this is me trying my best to suck up.

My favicon sucks. I need a new one. But it’s SO HARD to be creative in 16X16px!!! Gahhh.
Um. Is there some sort of deadline for this competition?
I was feeling inspired, and I made you a favicon. They match your site’s current layout (green, red, orange, and yellow) and for each layout you can just change the colors. They’re not exactly banana shaped, but more on the bubbly side.
PS. if you want it in a different angle in quarters of 90°, I have 3 more on my computer

The first time I ever visited your site (which was actually quite a while ago), it’s name gave me an image of a Banana sitting on a beach =P So I drew a banana, sitting on a towel in the sand, with a sky and clouds and a messed up ocean behind it ;P
I wish I was talented enough, then I’d design you a banana, with arms and legs, which was lying down with sun glasses on its “face”. Ok, so that’s more like a “laid-back banana” as opposed to a “calm banana”.
By the way, can it be a larger picture, which you can then shrink? I’m really bad a making tiny graphics. Well I’m really bad at making graphics full stop… but I might just try.
Like Very and Ashley said – a banana would be the perfect favicon. If I could pixel, I’d make you one. I have a heart as a favicon, well, because it’s easy to pixel
(how boring). I also like the favicon Tiffany did. Very cute and original.

I tried to use colors from your site and of course the Banana theme.

I actually like your clean, simple looking designs. It puts the content in the focus. Having a simple design also makes it easy to change the theme more often.
I don’t think I qualify for your contest so I’ll just wis you luck with your favicon.
