What to do when your family read your blog
This entry was posted on February 22, 2008
It’s one of my three blogging rules that I will never mention anything on my blog that I wouldn’t mind my mother knowing about. This is good, because my mother sometimes reads my blog. Yesterday I received an email through my contact form from my sister, and that was a little strange. I even replied to her by email, and we live in the same house.
I also know that my dad reads my blog. When he told me, I got a bit huffy. If there’s something I want my dad to know, I’ll tell him. He shouldn’t have to need to read my blog to know what’s going on in my life.
However, my dad regularly travels with work which means he’s not at home right now, and I do miss him very much. The biggest thing he’s missed out on while he’s away is my new haircut!
Here you go, Dad, this is my new haircut! I hope you like it. I think you’ll agree it looks a lot better than it did before.
Have a good weekend everyone, whether you’re related to me or not.

My notebook addiction
This entry was posted on February 19, 2008
The first step to overcoming a problem is to accept that you have a problem to begin with. Here goes…

I have an addiction to notebooks.
I can’t stop buying them!
I haven’t counted up exactly how many I have, but I think it’s around the 20 - 25 mark. I have all sorts of notebooks, and I don’t even have anything to write in them! I’m not a student anymore so I don’t have any lecture notes I could use them for.
I really should stop buying notebooks, because I have no need for them. I keep seeing new notebooks I like though, so let’s outline some of my favourites.

This notebook over on the left is shaped like a monster! I love monsters, and when I saw this notebook I couldn’t not buy it. That’s how much I love it. It has giant lines on the inside, which is great for me - I have giant handwriting. My handwriting is huge, and I need huge lines to match it.
Massive lines + shaped like a monster = perfect notebook for Rachael.
I just wish I had something to write in it!

This is my My Chemical Romance “drumline” notebook, which has characters from The Black Parade in a marching drumline on the cover. Thanks to the fabulous exchange rate between American dollars and Pounds and the fact that this was bought in a sale, I got it really cheaply! Again, though, I haven’t written a single word in it. Deary me.

This notebook here on the left has Octopi on the cover. That may not be that awesome to most, but to one person in particular, I think this will be a pretty awesome notebook.
That’s why I’m off to the post office soon, to send this cute notebook out to America. Yes, Bubs, this notebook is for you!
What other notebooks do I have?

Sometimes I’ll come across a style of notebook that’s just completely awesome. And because I don’t keep track of notebooks that I buy, I can sometimes end up with similar ones. These four notebooks over on the right are the exact same notebook, but in four different colours. They were bought over a period of several months, and all cost less than 50p.

My favourite notebooks are the ones that have millions of pages. I have several really thick notebooks (about an inch thick) that are chock full of pages I can write on at some point. The picture over on the left shows my three thickest notebooks - the notebook on the top is the purple 50p notebook, for comparison.
So where do I buy my notebooks from? Well, the 50p notebooks and the octopus notebook are from Tesco, and my thick / monster notebooks are from Paperchase. I’ve also bought a couple of notebooks from Claire’s Accessories. I love notebooks!
Now we have that out of the way, anyone have any ideas about a cure for this addiction?

Mm… juicy!

I love to drink orange juice! I sometimes feel that I’m single-handedly keeping the orange juice industry in business, such is the volume that I drink. If there’s no orange to drink, I just have plain water. I don’t like hot drinks, I don’t like fizzy drinks, and I don’t like other kinds of fruity drinks. It’s either got to be orange, the occasional apple and blackcurrent, or nothing.
To pay my respects to this wonderful juice, I have a new layout! It’s clean, it’s un-cluttered, and it’s yummy.
The colours are from a colour pallette called “That’s the gay one” and I made the background stripes on stripegenerator.com. So far the theme has been tested on FF2, IE7, Flock, and Safari for windows. I haven’t been able to test it in IE6 yet, but I don’t envisage any major problems there.
Please, have a poke around, and let me know about any problems you find. If anything unexpected happens, I need to know. I get uppity when my themes aren’t perfect, and I can’t fix a problem I don’t know about.
Over the next few days I’m planning a slight restructuring of the site. I’ll be adding some content, and removing some content. If anything unexpected happens, this will be why.
Right. That’s enough hard work for one day. I’m off to have some orange juice.
