Where on Earth do I start?

Ever since I cleaned up my inbox, I’ve been on a bit of a cleaning spree. My desk at work is tidy, by SMS inbox on my phone is tidy. All is almost right in the world. Almost.

But where on Earth am I supposed to start with this :

?

The bottom and work your way up :)

At the beginning!

Take everything out, sort everything into piles (reference, fiction, notebooks, junk, random stuff, etc.), then alaphabetise all the books and find some other way of organising the other stuff. Funny, I have a blog in the works about organisation, which is something I can get downright obseessive about.

What Jem said: at the beginning. But as long as you start somewhere (top, bottom, or middle), it hardly matters.

That’s not that bad! It’s stacked quite nicely, actually :P

That’s nothing, Rachael. You should start with cleaning my bedroom.

Am I the only one who finds this the least bit neat?

You should make a list of everything that’s there. I’ll start: Star Trek Encyclopedia (wins), Spiderman (1?), Windows Vista for Dummies (why?), The Ultimate General (I almost thought that says Gerard Way) Quiz Book, Oxford Color English Dictionary, Ultimate CSI (wins some more), etc.

I’d start with taking all the loose papers and shit out. Then you can straighten your books and start organising your bookcase. Seriously, though, that’s hardly the messiest bookcase I’ve ever seen…

But… it’s so clean! Why change it?

Okay, my bookshelf is nicer, but my closet is about 473982043 times worse than that!

Also, am I genetically programmed to befriend Trekkies? Why are all of my friends into Star Trek, and I’m always like “Er. QUOI?”

my book case gets messier! i have to do a major clean every so often. i keep buying books i have absolutley no room for.

try throwing everything on the floor. and sorting through it piece by piece. arrange everything you want to keep back on the bookshelf, everything you think you could sell on ebay into a box, and all complete trash into the bin. :)

Get another bookcase?

wow, if you think that’s messy, you should see MY bookshelf.

Looks like you collect books, notebooks and all kind of stationery! Doesn’t it feel great? :3

I face this problem at least once every two months when my little bookcase becomes too full (the big one is always full). It works for me to take everything out, sort it and get rid of things that I don’t use (like notebooks with no blank pages that I’m not going to need), get out things I’ve borrowed and not returned (lol), etc. When you’re done, put everything back and if it doesn’t fit in a pretty way, then I guess you need another bookcase. I hate it when that happens, I’ve been needing a new one for months now, but they are so expensive. I started to put some of my stationery in my underwear drawer until then XD

What I’d do is dump them in piles (categorized of course) and then when it’s cleared up my floor is all messy :P and then I start arranging them into place

That one looks eerily similar to my own bookcase… what do I do? Er nothing. =D I keep telling myself that it’s been worse, so I can concentrate on other stuff… like sleeping.

That looks like a big job!

OMG. Bottom left… all those Star Trek reference manuals. How geeky?

And, yes, I have all of those as well ;-)

I’d start from the bottom and make my way up. Seeing as the ‘up’ parts look tidier to me. Good Luck.

I’d start from the bottom and make my way up.

Always best, I find.

Start with the top then work your way down, as (depending on the build of your book shelf) it is less likely to tumble over.

Maybe you could get some filling shelves for the paper work? Clem reminds me of…well…me, ha. Good luck :P.

Take everything out, throw out all the crap you no longer need, and then sort by genre, then alphabetically. Or if you’re one of those people that like hanging on to random bits of paper, use that little yellow container thing I see on the third shelf.

Shredder?

Shredder?

Ah, see, the thing is… I *need* all the stuff. There’s nothing to throw away. I just need it to look neater. :)

perhaps a filing cabinet for all the paper stuffs would work?
