Things people have yet to invent

You’d think with all the technology and great minds we have in the world today, there’d be nothing left to invent. Wrong!

Self-cleaning cars

I suck at cleaning my car. I always seem to miss bits on the side, I’m not tall enough to do the roof, and my arms aren’t long enough to reach all of the windscreen. And it’s not like I even have a massive car. I have a Volkswagen Fox. It’s the smallest VW you can buy, and yet parts of it are still too big for me to clean.

Self-upgrading wordpress

I know you can get one-click upgrade plugins, but these are complicated and require you to change permissions on your folders which can be dangerous. Besides, one click is one too many! I want wordpress to be able to upgrade itself.

Self-fixing lightbulbs

I wish they could just “un” explode.

Self-recording Televisions

I don’t want to have to tell my TV to record a programme, I want it to know. I also want it to record programmes which it thinks I might like. Television would be a lot more interesting that way.

Now, I realise that this means a big leap forward in terms of Artificial Intelligence and whathaveyou, but I can dream, right? What do you think I’ve missed off this list?

They need windshield wipers on glasses. *nods*

Yes! I definitely agree with that.

We should also have self-cleaning rooms :P

Daleks.

At least the annihilation of the human race would be really cool.

My Wordpress kind of self-upgrades! As in, I go into my Dreamhost Panel, click the “Goodies,” section, and click “Update!” And it updates it! Yes. It’s handy. It helps me from destroying Wordpress, as I’ve done many times.

Clothes that hang themselves! I’m sure I’ll think of a few others…

Shirts that iron themselves! I hate ironing, but I love wearing clothes that need to be ironed.

Every time I wash my car it just gets dirtier. :(

I want self translating anime , so that I won’t have to wait for fansubs so much :)
As for worpress: oh come on! Isn’t it fun when your FTP refuses to upload all your files at once? And you end up spending 2 hours upgrading a measly script ^-^

I also want a device which let’s my brain learn while I’m sleeping. I wish I went to bed and just woke up knowing PHP *wishful thinking*

Yep. All of those things totally need ’self-whatevering’ implemented into them. Like ASAP.

Ooh, this one … ‘Self-fixing lightbulbs’ … I have a plethora of lighbulb jokes ready …! OMGZ. But at the risk of sounding corny, I’ll bite my tongue. Just this once, though! T_T;

I actually prefer doing my own cleaning - sad I know. There’s nothing I can think of, which should be invented - if possible.

Cherry said:

Maybe you could be the first person to invent them! Would make yourself millions.

My Wordpress self upgrades and it backs itself up too. I love that plugin because my FTP takes aeons to upload all the files usually. :(

RL search function!

The second thing Vera mentioned also sounds handy.

Lene said:

lol! What Amanda said made me think of self-cleaning glasses, without the wipers :D

Oh and I definitely agree with you about the self cleaning car. I guess the closest I can get right now is the tunnel carwash where they just throw water at your car and giant machines with sponges rub it. That’s so cool… but you have to pay for it. Self clean would be so much better.

Kaylee said:

This just makes you seem like you’re too lazy to do any of it yourself! :P But the world would be so much easier if everything was self-doing ;)

Self cleaning TV/computer screens. I hate having to wipe the dust off them.

& Garbage that takes itself outside every garbage night :)
It’s just gross having to do that. Haha

Cups and plates which take themselves to the dishwasher!!

I want all these suggestions. Also how about a machine that will cook for you. You know from the Jetsons (yeah I just aged myself) the machine you just told it what you wanted to eat and poof it was there. That is what I want.

Chantelle said:

I want your car! It’s adorable. If it cleaned itself, that would be a plus. Self-recording TV sort of exists. With digital cable there are some show that you can watch “On Demand.” If you missed an episode of X, you can just turn the TV on, select the episode “On Demand” and watch it (you don’t have to tell it to record or anything). The bad part, though, is that it’s only for some shows. :(

I would want self-organizing email.

Rachael said:

@Chantelle - If you have “Sky+” (digital television) you can tell it your favourite show and it will record every single episode of it. That’s quite useful I guess. However, I don’t have Sky+.

And thanks for liking my car. It most definitely is cute. :)

How about a self-cleaning house. Now that would rather lovely.

Kristina said:

I completely second the self recording tv.

Crissy said:

Totally agreed. Especially the wordpress :D

Self-writing essays. I would love self-fixing light bulbs, too. :)

How about a self cleaning self healing self upgrading human being???? oop’s We are already here!!! x

Forrest said:

I would love a self-cleaning car! Mine is always messy; the rain doesn’t clean the outside, and entropy undoes any cleaning I try on the inside.

a 99p coin!

With regard to the lightbulb….

The first lightbulbs invented didn’t actually blow!

It was soon realised that this did not make sense financially, and it was “back to the drawing board”. Thus, the modern, blow-at-the-worst-possible-moment lightbulb came to be. :)
