The downside of living inland
This entry was posted on January 13, 2008
I know lots of people are afraid of large bodies of water, and I never understand why that is. The worst that can happen is you get into trouble and drown. If you’re afraid of even looking at pictures of large bodies of water, you might want to click away now.

That’s the lake in my town, taken last summer. Isn’t it gorgeous? There’s so much wildlife there. There’s ducks, and geese, and a couple of llamas, and people walking their dogs. It’s a very nice environment to be in. When the weather nicens up, I think I’ll start walking round the lake more often. It’ll be good exercise during my lunch break.

That’s a photo I took in Portsmouth (south coast) last November. The land on the right is a place called “Gosport” and in the distance you can see the Isle of White. Isn’t that sea just gorgeous? I’m very jealous of people who live near the sea. It’s so relaxing and it has such a calming influence on me. I could just stand and stare at the sea for hours. It fascinates me.
If I could live anywhere, it would be near the coast. Right now I live slap bang in the middle of the country, which is not a lie if you look at this map. I can go in any direction at all and it’ll take about three hours to get to the nearest coastline. It’s ridiculous. I couldn’t be any further inland if I tried.

Eh, death is nothing to be afraid of. It’s not like you can do anything about it once it has happened.
Well, living next to the beautiful lake is much better than no big water bodies at all, I suppose? I’d certainly be more than happy, if I had a lake like that near me.
LOL, the worst that could happen is that you drown, hehe. I think thats what people are scared of, hehe.
I spent the last year looking at water. Because when you’re a group of 11, on a tight budget, and looking at water is free, that’s what you do! I’ve seen Lake Okanagan, The Pacific Ocean, The Rideau Canal, 4 or 5 parts of The St. Lawrence River, The Montmorency Waterfalls, The Waterfalls in Riviere-du-Loup. Near the end, I was like “GAHHHHH!!! WATER!!!! IT’S JUST THE SAME WATER WE LOOKED AT 7 MONTHS AGO!!!”
Still, I like to look at it. ![]()
Wow, those pictures are gorgeous! I especially like the second one.
I am afraid of drowning. ![]()
I’d love to live near the coast as well, probably Brighton or Plymouth… Or even Weymouth. ![]()
I can’t swim
, but I like large bodies of waters. They’re beautiful (when not polluted). THERE ARE LLAMAS! I think that’s my kind of place :P.
Lol I find it so fascinating how some people can just keep driving and driving and driving and end up in another country. I don’t think I’ve ever stepped onto any land that had more than one country. And most of my life I’ve been on island countries. There’s beaches everywhere.

Most people would suggest learning to swim…
I also like lakes, there are two artificial ones in my town, not large, but nice enough for strolls and such.
It’s 30 mins drive here to the nearest coast
I just love looking at large bodies of water, it soothes me and I really love the nice smell of the surroundings ![]()
I’m only scared of deep water in which sharks could be lurking.
I’m sure I’ve already told you this, but you should move to New Zealand. Anywhere you live here is less than 45 minutes from a beach.

I live well more in the centre then you hahahhaah

ROFL. I’d say that’s a normal thing to be afraid of? You know, as most people don’t like the idea of premature death and everything.
