I hate social networks!

I have a myspace account. I’ve had one for just under a year, and I hate it. I log in and am bombarded with people’s bulletins telling me that they’re watching DVD’s and are just about to go to bed. Do I care? No! If I cared what you were up to, I’d ask you.

I hate myspace so much because of the bastardised CSS and HTML. People should not be allowed to customise their own layouts. It makes me uncomfortable when I see CSS in the body section of a webpage. It doesn’t belong there, and it’s only a fluke that it works.

Myspace, to me, has always been a waste of bandwidth. It’s full of emo teenagers and crappy bands judging their popularity by the number of friends they have, and using profile comments an bulletins as a way of keeping in touch. It’s pathetic.

I joined facebook last summer, because I wanted to try out a social networking site that wasn’t rubbish. It started off great. Everyone used their real names, and no one could customise the appearance of their profile with CSS. That hasn’t changed, and I still love facebook for that reason.

What I’m starting to hate about facebook now though, are all the third-party applications you can add to your profile. Some of these force you to invite 10+ to add the app as well before you can successfully add it. Now when I log into facebook, I’m presented with a list of 30 invitiations to tell me to add applications such as the “friends for sale” app and the “hot potato” app. It’s ridiculous.

In many ways, social networking is a brilliant idea, but in my ways it is ridiculous. With ning, you can make your own social networking site. I’m thinking of making one for anti-social unfriendly people. Who wants to sign up?

I hate hate hate MySpace. I only have it for the Official Katimavik MySpace. I rather enjoyed Facebook while I was away, to keep up with people. Now, it’s a good way to keep up with the people who are away. But yes, the apps often annoy me.

Same, I really hate Myspace! I don’t know why, but it just has this creepy vibe. I love Facebook as well, it’s so much more simpler and just better. Yes, I hate those invitations! I also hate when people have a million, useless applications on their profiles, and it takes ages for their facebook’s to load properly.

I have a myspace and I’m not an “emo teenager”. Has its drawbacks, of course, but I’ve rediscovered some of my old friends though there. Facebook is annoying because all of the requests I get — and unlike myspace bulletins, you can’t just ignore them.

Don’t like the popularity contest though.

I don’t like Facebook because of those goddamn applications. I hate having 20 people telling me they have bitten me and I’m now a vampire, or whatever other crap they can come up with.

I don’t have Myspace and I won’t never get one. Facebook I got because one of my friends half forced me. Anyway I hate those stupid invitations. And I hate myself because I do send pointless invitations sometimes *blush*. I don’t want to irritate people. I don’t really understand why I even need whole Facebook.

I hate Myspace. I don’t have one - don’t intend to get one. I used to like Facebook (I joined in 2003 when it was only like 4 (2?) universities). I just hate how it’s expanded… It’s still useful when it comes to keeping tabs on friends who’ve moved away. :D

I hate myspace and love/hate facebook for the same reasons.

Yeah, I’ve seen a lot about networking sites, and creating them yourself, but everyone is doing it now… there’s bebo and that other one that pays you to write blogs (T something) I dunno… I’d join yours for the laugh though… but if it’s just a site for you, and your friends to write to each other, and put profile info…how is that different to like, Snark forum? or having this blog where everyone visits, and you can tell people about yourself.

Though, I never really got the concept of social network sites, until facebook… and that’s only so I could find old university friends though…haha

I don’t have either, and I have never even visited facebook.com :P I hold prejudices against it xD

I agree with the Facebook thing — it was great when it was nice and simple; but every day I’m bombarded with all of these “apps” and it pisses me off! The apps are ruining Facebook!

Those are the reasons why I despise myspace now. It used to not be that bad but ever since I kept getting spam comments from people telling me I’ve won a Macy’s gift card and ever since more important bulletins keep disappearing because of a billion posts asking questions like, “Would you kiss me? Where? Have you ever wanted me?” or answering questions like, “Who is the last person you talked to? What were you doing at 8 this morning?” I just gave up on myspace.

I still like facebook but I do hate the applications. I don’t want to be a vampire, ninja and I don’t want people to rate my cuteness. GRRRRRR lol

I’m starting to really hate the applications on facebook, I get about a million facebook application requests everyday and it’s pissing me off. I’m contemplating deleting my myspace.

Annie said:

I’ve got both. Hardly ever go on Facebook, and MySpace for that matter, unless it’s to reply but I mostly get e-mails. I find the applications on the Facebook funny but pointless, my list is just building up :D. Ah well, I can live without being poked and super poked - or whatever else there maybe. :P

I have a myspace. And I do not understand facebook… but I’ll join your network site. I am so antisocial they call it having Social Anxiety Disorder. :D

Kaylee said:

I felt the same as you; myspace had all those bulletins and ugly customizations, and facebook was good until the overflow of applications. I’m not ready to sign up for anything else for a long time :P

I got myspace first because everyone I knew had it and eventually, I rediscovered some friends on there. Facebook, eh. I can’t be bothered to login often. I never have but the applications are making me want to login less. I wish it was just a network site for colleges and universities - the way it started out. I miss that.

You lack my natural laziness. See, I just look around hoping to gather 9408579348 cons for not joining yet another… something. Besides, Snark is more than enough to fuel my social needs (online ones).

I’ve seen a couple of MySpace accounts and was lucky enough to be horrified on first sight. I’d rather befriend a certain bumbling idiot (shudders) than joining MySpace.

MySpace is good for bands but that’s about it.
Facebook rocks but the applications do not.
Check this out about Facebook: http://albumoftheday.com/facebook/final.swf

Wow, Maren, that’s really scary. O_o

I agree. I liked Facebook because it was clean and simple. Now, it’s filled with a bunch of applications, and they clutter up the page :[

A social network for anti-social people? Why not? Sign me up!
I’m a Filipino, and I’m really so sick of the fact that almost everyone in my country has an account on that crappy friendster network. I’m so very tired of the pretentious people on Friendster, most especially those belonging to these jackasses who cavorts half-naked in their photo galleries thinking they are some sort of underwear model wannabes. Not to mention some old maids trying to bag a westerner for a husband! Haha!
