The benches of Portsmouth

I was fortunate enough to visit Lil down in Portsmouth this weekend, and I was surprised and intrigued by all the different benches they have. I had my trusty camera me, so here are pictures!

A pretty normal looking bench. (That shadow is me trying to duck)

A fairly normal-looking picnic bench as well, no? This bench is at the top of a hill just on the outside of Portsmouth. There’s a country lane with random carparks all along it where you can pull up and look out at the gorgeous sea view. It’s amazing.

This is what I like to call a “wiggly bench”. I’m not really sure why the seat is wiggly; maybe it’s designed for people with huge buttocks? They can put one buttock on each dip in the wiggly bench?

It’s a bench shaped like a grasshopper! This strange bench can be found in a village just outside of Portsmouth; I squealed when I saw it. It’s a bench, but it’s shaped like a grasshopper!

The mother of all benches! It’s on the seafront (well, ish. It’s on a hill behind a wall next to the sea front), it’s made of stone, it has a shadow of Lil, it’s near the “wiggly benches”, it’s an amazing bench! Built to withstand harsh winds, salty sea air, and vandals, this is one mother of a bench!

Next time I’ll take you to see the other weird benches where I live and the ones on the high street which are funky. I blame alcoholism.

Ooh, I like the wiggly bench and the mother of all benches. I don’t have any interesting benches where I live… I barely have any benches at all! (Quick, how many times did I use the word “bench” in that paragraph?)

Lovely benches…

Those are very interesting benches. Here benches are boringly squared.

My favourite is the last one. :D

Did you test-sit on them all?

Kaylee said:

I wish I could sit on those! Very cool benches :D

I like the wiggly bench. :)

In Tennessee, there was this couch on the sidewalk made ENTIRELY OUT OF BRICKS! And, amazingly enough, it was rather comfortable. :D

After reading the word bench so many times, it suddenly seems so foreign. Me likes the grasshopper

I thought the grasshopper one was rather cute. Maybe more a kinder garden sort of bench, but still :)

They look good :) I haven’t seen the grasshopper and the wiggly one, but the rest are all pretty standard to me :P

It’s no wonder Lil’s an alcoholic if all there is in Portsmouth are benches.

^ Lmao. She didn’t drink the whole time I was down there! And Portsmouth isn’t just benches. It’s a beautiful city - I’m saving the nicer pictures for another time though.

Bobbi-lee: Yeah, me too. After writing it so many times, it began to seem alien. Most words are like that if you think about them for too long. :D
