Confession time

When it comes to music and music fans, I’m generally called “emo”. I don’t consider myself to be emo, though, but I’m not going to go off on my high horse and list all the reasons why I’m not emo. Many of the bands I listen to can be found in the “metal” section of the music stores, but here are some exceptions…
I love this guy. I’m taking my Aunty to see him on the 4th of December and I can’t wait! Like many of my favourite musicians, he’s Canadian, and he’s been known to describe himself as a “gangster crooner” because when he was in school, all his friends were listening to Dr Dre whereas he preferred the Rat Pack. He’s gorgeous, funny, and talented. I love him.
I only know one song (”Potential Breakup Song”) by these two sisters, but it’s so incredibly catchy that I find myself listening to it on repeat. They’re about as harmless an un-emo as you can get, and they sit quite happily on my iPod next to Avenged Sevenfold. As far as I’m aware, Aly & AJ haven’t toured the UK yet, but when they do, you can bet anything I’ll be going.
Justin was always my second favourite one from *NSync, the first being JC Chasez. However, JC seems to have disappeared, which leaves us with dear old Justin. Like Michael Buble, he’s gorgeous, funny, and talented. I saw him live in July and he puts on an amazing show. He sang, he danced, he played at least two different instruments, and he managed to work a crowd of seventeen thousand people from a circular revolving stage. If that’s not talent, I don’t know what is.
Six gorgeous ladies who sing, dance, and do more for female empowerment than the Spice Girls ever did. Well, that’s my opinion at least. The Pussycat Dolls dress completely inappropriately for their younger fans, but fortunately I’m too old to be in that group. I like them more for their songs and dance ability rather than their outfits anyway. And I’ve seen them live!

All of them are easily my guilty pleasures.
Michael Buble is just the man you learn to love, Aly and AJ are those harmless girls you like to sing along with your bestfriend, JT is the man of my dreams because of this talent and Pussycat Dolls, well don’t we all wish we were bangin’ like them? Hahaha.
When JT initially released FutureSex, he did 3-4 shows in small local clubs and venues.
I got to see him during one of those shows with about 300-400 people.
Absolutely incredible. He’s amazing.
Crime…where are Il Divo? :P.
@Mike - Oh my gosh, I am *so* jealous… Seriously. Do you have pictures?
@Annie - I never liked Il Divo… G4 are amazing though. And good live.
Heh, yeah I took my email address down after getting squillions of spam emails through my site!! Thank you for the e-hug it’s nice to know people care. I’m just sat here now and my Mum’s on the phone to my Gran who just cannot accept that we’re not going to my Uncles wedding, when my Dad is going for a CT scan, and having his last day of chemo on the same day…! My Dad’s so poorly and if my grandparents can’t even understand that, well let’s just say the e-hug was well received! ![]()
I think Michael Buble came over the Philippines once and he said he was 15 and the interviewer believed him! Pfffft. I don’t usually admit it but I do like the pussycat dolls.
Wow, I would never say that PCD did something for female empowerment. I believe they are the opposite of what a “modern” woman should be: they dress in a very sluttish way and use their bodies to get recognition and fame. I don’t think any girl should look up to them but unfortunately many do.
I don’t listen to any of the artists you mentioned but I’ve heard decent things about Aly & AJ. JT used to be OK to me but he’s so overrated and overplayed. As for the the Pussycat Dolls, I have to agree with Sara. They are a joke and I’m not sure why they are so popular.
We all have guilty pleasures though. I know I do.
I have to say I don’t listen to anything of the music you’ve listed here (except Avenged Sevenfold) but I’ve heard it all and Aly & AJ aren’t bad. Can’t stand PCD though, I have to agree with Sara & Jamie on that one.
I do agree with you though about having a varied music taste and guilty pleasures… I have mine too:
Spice Girls, McFly etc.
I’m sure I’ve made it clear how I feel about PCD. I do enjoy acting the skank to their music, but I don’t listen to it otherwise. I must be at the club/ with a friend, or they will not come by my way!
I love the others though! I think Canadians are just naturally amazing. It’s something in the water. Perhaps the chlorine.
I’ve been thinking about it, and I’m probably going to end up marrying a musician, because it’s all I know! I’ve never NOT lived with musicians. So, if you know any pasty, somewhat geeky, music nerd people with British accents, please give them my number, which is 403-###-8ASH (for real, I’m not kidding. Lol).
It’s so nice to see someone else stand up and tell the world what they listen to, without it being something considered cool, such as, say, Muse. It’s like it’s not allowed to enjoy pop music if you’re over the age of 15.
I have issues with music elitists. ![]()
@Renate: I’ve grown up listening to Muse and I love them. I thought they were rather hit and miss with the masses rather than cool but you tell me :/
I love pop music, and admit to thinking JT is the bomb. Pussycat Dolls I will listen to with friends and will recite the lyrics at given moments but they’re not something I’d grant a daily listening to.
Needless to say you have me hooked on Aly & AJ.
Yay for Aly & AJ! I think I’m going to have them as my ringtone when I get my new phone…

I love all of those.
Aly & AJ should not be insulted! They’re so easy to bop along to.
