Well, here it is…

I did it - I converted my site to a wordpress-powered creature. After much fiddling over the past twenty-four hours (not that sort of fiddling you dirty people) I think I’ve got everything the way I want it.
Obviously, there are little things that need ironing out. I’m not happy with the current sitemap-generating plugin I have. I like my theme (which I made myself following Han’s tutorial) - it’s got a clean, minimalist thing going on.
Right now I need some feedback (if you’re willing)
What’s good? What needs improving? Is everything ‘user-friendly’?
I’ve taken all the suggestions on board from my previous entry where I asked about what you want to see on Calm Banana - I’m already working on some more articles. I’m also working on putting up my several hundred photos I’ve taken that are currently wasting away on my hard drive (I found a gallery plugin - yay).
Other than that, not much is new really. It’s 11pm and I’m off to bed. Sweet dreams everybody.
Edit: It would seem the “did you learn maths” plugin has stopped working (although Louise has managed to comment, so maybe the rest of you just don’t know maths - KIDDING!). What I’m going to do instead is pick a random person from the comments and give them the prize instead. Thanks for the heads up, Ramsha.

But, Rilla, I don’t want my footer to stick to the bottom of the page! *pout*
I’ve just noticed that your name has shot off to the left so I shall have to fix that. *nod* But, like I said, there’s stuff that needs ironing out.
How much space would you like between the sidebar and the content? At the moment it’s set to 10 pixels…
Am I technically the third person?
I don’t know about that [/sidebar] bit on your sidebar. Might that confuse people? Other than that, I think black + pink go together really well. ![]()
As far as a layout goes, I like it. OK so I’m not in awe like with the banana one, but it’s better than the one with the cloud.
Things in need of fixing: I see a closing tag for sidebar right under the links for QBee (it’s quite large too). Plus for the last comments the actual text of them is not displayed.
And last, I’d have the footer span along the whole width of the white space, right now there is a gap of some 20px both left and right.
If that’s a border, than have it also beneath the footer. Right now it looks kind of awkward to me.
The [/sidebar] bit was me trying to be clever…
And the footer is supposed to echo the header - as in not take 100% of the width…
Vera, what browser / OS are you using?
I’m gone from the internet for a week and this happens? It looks wonderful, the colour scheme is lovely as usual. It’s so incredibly you, I couldn’t see it being anything else :p
BIG SUBMIT BUTTON
Wordpress is not the demon most people have made it out to be. That’s what I reckon anyway. In any case, have a good run with it, I know I love it ![]()
I miss the bananas but I like this. I like how it’s in all black and white save for a spot of pink. Congrats on moving to WP.
Hmm… The way that you have your comments displayed confused me at first. It’s too wide. I thought that the names of the commenters were sidebar information.
I like it! The non-appearance of bananas confused me for a few seconds at first, but I’m getting over it!
I’ve never used Wordpress, but it seems cool. Plug-ins sort of rock my world. I just blog on Blogger, and they’re just starting with “widgets,” which are a tiny step closer to something sort of exciting, I guess.
I’m a huge fan of simple layouts, so great job! I love the use of pink as sort of a contrast between black and white.
Gosh, I hate those math plugins so much. I don’t need to feel stupid online, too!
I love the new layout! I think you should distinguish the sidebar from the content more though. It’s quite confusing. Maybe adding a little more padding below the sidebar would do the trick.
Oh, about the comments, sorry I was thrown off by the fact that the Name and date of the comment is to the left while the comment itself is on the right.
I’m using WinXP Pro SP2 and Firefox 2
By the way, make the input (type text) larger, as I can only see about 80% (height-wise) of what I type.
It’s great! Lookin’ good Rachael
The colour scheme is nice and simple, and I love how your font is always a nice big Georgia ![]()
wow! The site looks great. Just some tips (if you don’t mind me giving any) is that there could be more padding on your side navagation (grey box thing) and to not have the overline when you hover the title. Also it might look neat if you attach the side navagation to your top navagation.. if that makes sense. Anyway.. Glad to see you switched over to wordpress (caus’ it rocks) and I’m going to have a look around at the new calm banana!
I’d suggest removing the “Tagged With” at the bottom of the content pages if you’re not going to tag it with anything. But the layout is very nice. Do you like Wordpress better than FanUpdate? (I’m not thinking of changing, I was just curious).
I don’t like how the sidebar doesn’t go all the way down the page so your content sort of wraps around it. That distracts me.
Also, I’d like it better if there were some borders or something around your submit button. As it is right now, it just looks like text there. Other than that, it’s quite nifty.
Wordpress is love. ![]()
I was technically the 3rd person since the addition thingie wouldn’t let me comment!! I love the simplicity of the layout and the colors.. but there is a tad too much black for me!

Ooooh grats on getting the site going on WP. Well personally, I think the previous layout looks neater. But it still looks nice! There’s not enough gap between the sidebar and the following content though…
You’ll also need footerstick to get your footer to stick to the bottom of the screen when your content doesn’t span long enough down the page.
